Ned Spurlock plays the hammer dulcimer like you have never heard it before. Accompanied by an orchestra he plays ballads and love songs with a beautiful rich sound. For a special treat try Ned Spurlock's Christmas album - O Holy Night.
The hammer dulcimer is one of the oldest instraments still played today and versions of this instrament (the hammer dulcimer) are found in almost every country in the world. It is mentioned in the Bible in Daniel 3:10 "and every man that shall hear the sound of the coronet, flute, harp, psaltery and dulcimer, and all kinds of music, shall fall down and worship..."
Music is made on the hammer dulcimer by striking the strings with small wooden hammers (much like a piano).
The word dulcimer comes from Latin which means sweet song.
